Louie, our new family member.

We have always had a dog in our family. Our last dog, Charlie (a lab mix who we saved), rose above friendship to become my Zen Master. When he passed last year, I couldn't bring myself to save another dog. My daughter arranged for us to meet Louie, a shelter lab mix, and he has been home with us ever since. If you have read any of my books, then you know dogs always play an important role in the story. It says something about a dog owner when they bring a dog into their family knowing dogs have such a short life span. Those of you who have had a dog may scoff at this but Charlie's passing has been nothing less than an agonizing experience. Long may Louie live and play fetch.
